 EARYAGO, a quick music genre guide to give you an idea as to what style

or feel they each hold in the industy. We kept the magority of this music genre

guide focused prodominately on the American market. Obviously their are a

several other world market genres which we will address on a page of their own

in the future.  For now we hope this little music genre guide will help as a quick

refrence tool. As EARYAGO grows we will add a larger music genre guide to

address the many other sounds available out there.

ALTERNATIVE

 Sometimes associated with Indie, or

 college radio. A huge spectrum of

artist derive from this. Associated

 with Punk,Rock & New Wave.

BLUES

Considered one of the cornerstones of

 Rock n Roll. Examples of its different styles are

Delta, Detroit & Jump Blues.It’s usually characterized

 by heavily improvised minor harmony’s,slow

   .                                                      jazzrhythm & melancholy lyrics.

CLASSICAL

 Usually will hold court with a myriad of

 different classes of instrument’s & chorus.

 Normally will conform to specific established

 standard or complexity which requires a

 musical literacy.

COMEDY

Also called Satirical or Parody.Many times

 it is an artist mocking another artist work & giving

it a new life with a laugh. Sometimes it’s simply

someone making a song which makes you laugh.

COUNTRY

Another label with multiple sub genres such

 as Blue Grass, Honky-tonk, Rockabily.Music

 with a rural, backwood, rustic, southern feel.

DANCE / HIP HOP

All music can make you want to dance but this

category now a days falls to such categories

 as Club, House, Techno & Disco.

FOLK

This genre is a story told in music that is made

 & handed down generation to generation.

Traditionally an acoustic-based format.

FUNK

This was a fusion of Soul, R&B, Jazz. Made of

rhythmic grooves with a strong bass for a

 dance able back beat.

GOSPEL

Music with religious implications or hymns

GRUNGE

Associated with The Seattle rock scene of the 90's.

 Has a Rock, Metal, Punk theme associated to

 it with a garage or basement type feel.

 HEAVY METAL / HARD ROCK

A version of rock with an emphasis usually on

 instrumental speed & aggressive playing style.

 This has numerous sub genres such as

Thrash, Speed & Death.

INDUSTRIAL

This is a heavier metal type feel of Electronica

or synth style music. Associated with Rave,

 House & Techno music.

JAZZ

This like blues is a heavily improvised form

 of music with a tendency for use of horns

 or a piano. Unlike the blues it has more of

a big band feel for dancing appeal.

NEW AGE

This is geared towards a relaxing, spiritual,

 meditative feel. Slow electronica, acoustic

with jazz-fueled effects..

POP

Has been called Bubblegum and often is

 associated with Boy/Girl Bands. Can be

heard on any major market radio station

with a broad focus on light rock or dance

type rhythms.

PROGRESSIVE

Prog rock is usually an experimental style of

 music. Thought of as Art rock & born off the

 psychedelic 60's groups. Will focus on fantasy

 or fiction with a focus on instrumental work.

PUNK

The anyone can be a rockstar category of

music. Very simple riffs with a garage or

basement type feel & an anti-establishment

 message. Also known as Hardcore.

RAP

This was an urban-based genre with its

lyrics often set in rhyme. It originally was a

platform for disenfranchised black youth

 but has dramatically changed over the

 years. Can be called Gangsta, Hardcore

REGGAE

Another genre born of a different styles and

 combined together to make something new.

Associated with the Jamaican Rasta movement

 & fused with Ska & Rock-steady beats.

R&B / SOUL

Rhythm & Blues & Soul is tightly linked together

 with jazz, blues & gospel.Can be tied in with

Motown, Doo Wop & an enormous

encompassment of other music as well.

ROCK

A form of raw blues & hard edged R&B.

Associated with Oldies, Classic, Surf,

Boogie Woogie & had a hand in the forming

 of countless Sub Genres such as Metal, Punk,

Alternative.

Again these are obviously not the only genres on the market but we
